Metro Vein Clinic: Institute for vein care

My name is Dr Kamran Afzal, my patients call me Dr A. I am the medical director of Metro Vein Clinic located in Fridley, Plymouth and Burnsville. I am a board certified vein specialist and we at Metro Vein Clinic specialize in treatment of varicose veins and spider veins.

What are varicose veins? What are spider veins? Veins refer to those blood vessels that carry blood from the body back to the heart. In this case we are talking about the veins in the legs. The calf muscle acts as a pump when we walk. The pump forces the blood against the force of gravity towards the heart. The one way valves help prevent the blood from going backwards from the force of gravity towards the feet. Most often, because of family history and multiple pregnancies, the one way valves stop working and blood starts pooling in the legs and around the ankles. This results in leg pain especially at the end of the day, and can also result in leg swelling, restless leg, visible large tortuous veins or spider veins on the legs.

If you feel that you may have varicose veins, if you feel that you have spider veins and your legs hurt, I invite you to schedule an appointment at any of our 3 locations… Fridley, Plymouth or Burnsville.

Your first visit is like visiting your doctor’s office. You will fill out basic demographic information. I will personally obtain a history, review your complaints and perform a physical exam. Based on the symptoms I will perform an ultrasound exam. Before you leave you will have a clear idea of your medical condition and your treatment options

Treatment of varicose veins can eliminate painful varicose veins and spider veins, leg swelling and restless leg syndrome. At Metro Vein Clinic we use state of the art minimally invasive technology every day to do just that. There is no anesthesia, no time off, no visits to the hospital and in most cases your medical insurance may cover most of the spider and varicose veins treatment. We have dedicated insurance specialists who work with you and your medical insurance so you can get the treatment that you deserve. Taking the time to make the appointment is up to you.
